Currently, there is a great need for protection in society and many hopes and expectations are placed on men, this creates a huge responsibility that men sometimes find difficult to cope with.
Many are separated from their families, children, are fighting at the front, have no communication with loved ones, or are experiencing the loss of the most dear ones. And at the same time, it is believed that men should be strong, provide our protection and support, but in fact - we all have a great need to be heard and understood.
Recently, the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine (UNFPA) conducted a study and found that 90% of men have never sought psychological support at all, while every third Ukrainian is in a state of great stress.
On the initiative of UNFPA, the government of Great Britain and the NGO "Innovative Social Solutions", an anonymous hotline for psychological support for men has been launched in Ukraine.
"It is here that any man, without any stereotypes and expectations about him, will be able to receive support from those who understand and will professionally help to restore psychological balance and solve problems", - UNFPA program manager Olesya Kompaniets emphasized.
The hotline at numbers 2345 (Vodafone and Lifecell) or 067 752 2345 ("Kyivstar") is free and works 24 hours a day.
You can call about any issues that cause stress: problems at work or relationships, worries about war, difficulties in regulating anger. Personal data will not be stored.
"This hotline is for men only. This means that women who contact this line will be referred to other options for help. We have deliberately segregated to create an environment of trust for men who are the least likely to seek help, but who need it the most The new hotline should become an environment of emotional safety and trust for men", - Kompaniets said.
