In the summer in Germany, there was a "ticket for 9 euros", which could be used in all types of transport for a month. But recently, the country's authorities adopted new rules and prices for fares in public transport.
New fare in Germany
Ukrainians living in Germany could previously buy a travel ticket at a reduced rate of €9. These were discounted tickets and such a special offer ended in September.
Currently, the German government has reached a common agreement and established a new single ticket price of €49.
Today, the price of a discount ticket for Ukrainians in Berlin with a Berliner Pass is €28.50.
How long will the new travel card be valid?
The €49 ticket will be valid for a month, but passengers will be able to cancel the travel subscription at any time.
Attention! The new ticket will be valid for all public transport, except for IC, ICE high-speed trains.
When will the new prices take effect?
Discussions on all technical issues have already been completed, so the government plans to introduce a new nationwide ticket for 49 euros from January 1, 2023.
The federal government will finance the new "€49 tickets", allocating 1.5 billion euros a year. However, Berlin considers the price of 49 euros too high and plans to develop its strategy to simplify the purchase of tickets.
"Many people live in Berlin who cannot afford a 49-euro ticket. That's why I'm going to develop a special strategy that will help introduce socially oriented proposals for people who need it", - said Berlin senator for transport Bettina Jarash.
