Currently, all checkpoints on the border with Belarus are closed. There is only one checkpoint in Volyn - "Mokrany-Domanove". However, in a limited mode: only citizens of Ukraine returning from Belarus to Ukraine are admitted and only on foot.


Where is the checkpoint "Mokrany-Domanove" and how to get there


The checkpoint "Mokrany" is located in the town of the same name in the Brest region, Belarus. The journey by car from Brest to Mokran will take about an hour. It is 3 km from the village to the Ukrainian border.


How to get there:

• by car: from Minsk take the P1 highway to Dzerzhynsk, from Dzerzhynsk take the M1 highway to Kobryn, from Kobryn take the M12 highway to the village of Mokrany, from the village of Mokrany take the M12 highway to the checkpoint "Mokrany" (border of Ukraine).

• by train: the nearest railway station is Kobrin.

• by bus: there are bus flights to Mokran from Baranovichi, Brest, Kobrin and Minsk.


The checkpoint "Mokrany" and the checkpoint "Domanovo" are separated by a 1.5 km pedestrian crossing.


The nearest city in Ukraine from Domanovo checkpoint is Kovel, about 2 hours by car.


List of documents for crossing the border at the Mokrany-Domanove checkpoint


Ukrainians who do not have a valid foreign biometric passport can return to Ukraine through the Mokrany-Domanov checkpoint on the basis of:


• Ukrainian passport, even if it has expired.

• Internal passport of a citizen of Ukraine (including if a photo was not affixed to the passport in a timely manner after the person reached 25 or 45 years of age).

• Ukrainian birth certificate (for children under the age of 16).


Peculiarities of crossing the border through the Mokrany-Domanove checkpoint


The checkpoint works only for Ukrainians. You can only cross the border on foot. On average, 10 citizens arrive through the checkpoint per day. These are mainly Ukrainians who are coming from the temporarily occupied territories or those who were forcibly deported to russia. The checkpoint operates around the clock.


Increased inspection on the territory of the checkpoint. Border guards carefully check things, documents, sometimes phones.


It is better to cross the border in the morning or in the afternoon. If the check is delayed, it will be difficult to leave, because after crossing the border it is not always possible to find a taxi right away. Also, if you cross the border during the curfew, you will have to wait for it to end. Hotels, shops and other infrastructure are closed at the border.
