It is important for Ukrainians who came to France to escape the war to obtain temporary protection. The corresponding status in the country is granted only for six months, and it must be extended in a timely manner in order to continue receiving support from the state. We answer the most frequently asked questions about the extension or cancellation of temporary protection status in France below.

Where to stay in Paris: the best neighborhoods and prices.

When to apply for extension of temporary protection status in France?

From three weeks to three days - it is during this period before the expiration of the status that you need to submit an application for its extension.

Pay attention! You should not extend your status before this period, because the prefecture will not consider your request. If you submit an application later than three days before it ends, the renewal of social rights will most likely be delayed.

Can I apply for status extension online?

Yes, you can apply online using this link.

Importantly! Each family member must fill out a separate form.

After filling out, you will receive an invitation to the prefecture. During the visit, the old document will be exchanged for a new one and an OFII application form will be issued, according to which you will continue to receive assistance.

You can find the prefecture by your place of residence on the interactive map.

What documents are required to extend temporary protection in France?

Before filling out the form on the website, prepare:

• Passport;

• a document confirming your marital status;

• housing rental agreement or other document confirming its existence;

• a document justifying the development of your situation;

• preliminary temporary residence permit.

How can Ukrainians cancel temporary protection in France?

If you plan to leave France permanently, you need to contact the prefecture at the Ukrainian registration desk. You must write a letter refusing temporary protection in France.

For this, the following documents should be submitted:

• Current residence permit in the country;

• an ADA payment card issued by OFII.

You can also close the status after leaving the country. In this case, notify the prefecture and OFII by phone or email, block your card and send it to OFII by post.

Tip: Close your bank card to avoid fees and your mobile phone account.
