Ukrainian electronic signatures and seals are now recognized in EU countries: details
Ukraine became the first non-EU country to be included in the European Union's trusted list. As a result, Ukrainian electronic signatures and seals on digital documents can be verified and confirmed in EU countries. Here's how it works
Ukrainians can now use Ukrainian electronic signatures in EU countries. This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
What is an electronic signature?
A qualified electronic signature (QES) is an electronic alternative to a regular signature. That is, electronic data obtained as a result of cryptographic transformation. The QES is attached to data or documents for identification purposes.
Citizens will be able to sign European contracts, documents, and applications using Diia.Signature-EU.
Why is electronic signature important in the EU?
Ukraine has taken an important step towards digital visa-free travel by becoming the first country to be included in the EU's trusted list without being a member of the European Union.
"This means that now Ukrainian electronic signatures and seals on digital documents will be automatically verified in EU member states and their validity will be confirmed", - the agency said.
For its part, Ukraine has recognized the EU's qualified trust services, and now EU citizens will be able to use e-signatures and e-seals of their countries to do business in Ukraine.
Where may an electronic signature be required?
An electronic signature can be used to sign electronic documents, use electronic services, register on government portals, etc.
In addition, it allows you to record the time of signing, which adds reliability to the signed documents.
Please note! Documents signed with a qualifying electronic signature have the same legal force as regular documents.
