Read on to find out how Ukrainians really feel about travelling during martial law and what kind of holiday they prefer.

Do Ukrainians travel during the war: survey results

Despite the difficult times of war, Ukrainians continue to travel around the country and support the economy. Only 21% of citizens have decided not to travel to avoid dangerous situations.

Since the outbreak of the war, 45% of Ukrainians have travelled around the country for tourism purposes. About 26% of respondents travelled 1-2 times, 12% - 3-5 times, and 7% of respondents travelled to different regions more than 7 times.

Due to the war, 23% of Ukrainians have not changed their attitude to travelling in any way. 21% of people believe that by doing so, they support the country's economy. However, another 21% of citizens have given up on tourism because of possible danger.

48% of respondents travel mainly in summer, 4% in spring, 3% in autumn, and only 2% in winter.

For 56% of Ukrainians, the choice of the time of year for travelling depends on holidays, while for 22%, weather conditions play a major role in choosing the time for travelling. Another 22% pay attention to the cost of travelling.

What kind of holiday do Ukrainians prefer?

54% of respondents like urban tourism and hiking.

28% of respondents prefer visiting the country's historical monuments and museums.

23% of Ukrainians choose to spend their holidays on the beach, and the same number of people like event tourism.

"During the war, domestic tourism became the basis for the country's tourism industry. Travelling around Ukraine today is not only a way to relax, but also a means of psychological relief for both our defenders and civilian Ukrainians. It is also a good way to support the country's economy, which today works exclusively for our defence," comments Mariana Oleskiv, Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development.
