Traveling on Christmas Eve can be not only magical, but also quite economical, providing an unforgettable experience of holiday cheer in various parts of the world. Find out more about the most budget-friendly Christmas destinations in Europe this year
The Christmas season in Europe is about to begin, giving locals and tourists alike an unrivaled experience of colorful Christmas markets decorated with garlands and aromatic hot drinks. However, the cost of traveling to European cities for Christmas can often be high, especially in popular destinations.
According to The Sun, Post Office Money has conducted a comparative analysis of prices in 13 popular European cities to determine the most budget-friendly Christmas destinations for the 2023/2024 winter season.
Here are the most affordable Christmas destinations in Europe this year.
Best cheap Christmas holiday destinations
According to the results, the leader of the rating is the capital of Latvia - Riga, where the cost of two nights with direct flights there and back is on average 350 euros. Given the various flights from the UK, we can assume that prices will be similar for flights throughout Europe.
Post Office Money's analysis covered the cost of accommodation, transportation (including the trip to the airport), as well as the cost of five main elements for the holiday event, such as a three-course meal, mulled wine and holiday pastries. In total, the cost of these services averages 580 euros.
The second most expensive city was Stockholm, the Swedish capital, which is traditionally considered an expensive city, with costs of approximately 640 euros for a weekend for two people.

The rating also includes Zagreb (Croatia), Prague (Czech Republic), and Tallinn (Estonia).
It is worth noting that the most affordable mulled wine for tourists is Krakow, where four glasses of this drink will cost only about 10 euros.
The report's authors found the highest costs for a Christmas trip in Vienna, the Austrian capital, followed by Copenhagen, where a two-night trip for two people costs more than 1,000 euros on average.
In addition, Ukraine is also among the budget destinations for the Christmas holidays.
Despite the fact that the country will celebrate New Year's holidays for the second year in a row in the midst of a full-scale war, traveling can be a memorable and enjoyable experience in safe regions.
