The tax authorities have recorded a rapid increase in revenue in Bukovel, but the large number of tourists is not the only reason for such changes. Find out what amounts are involved and what violations were recorded by tax authorities during inspections of the resort
Bukovel is one of the most popular ski resorts in Ukraine and is visited by a record number of tourists during the season. Thus, compared to November 2023, revenue in the Bukovel resort in December increased by 2.3 times. According to Forbes.ua, citing a report from the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Ivano-Frankivsk region, revenue increased from UAH 258.9 million to UAH 601.3 million.
We will discuss the reasons for this rapid growth and what violations were found during tax audits in the article below.
How much revenue did entrepreneurs in Bukovel receive in 2023?
In general, in 2023, all business entities of the resort showed UAH 4.6 billion in trading revenue. However, the sharp increase in December is attributed not only to the number of visitors to the resort on the eve of the New Year holidays. According to the tax authorities, these figures were largely influenced by a large-scale public awareness campaign conducted in connection with the entry into force of the law on the mandatory availability of cash registers and penalties for their absence. So, while at the beginning of 2023 there were only 438 payment transaction recorders, as of the end of January 2024, their number increased to 951.

What violations were found by the tax authorities at the resort?
Based on the results of 129 factual inspections conducted last year and in January 2024, tax authorities charged more than UAH 5 million in fines to business entities in the Bukovel resort area for non-compliance with the law.
In addition, tax inspectors found six cases of business activities without state registration and 10 cases of trade in alcohol and tobacco products without appropriate licenses.
In addition, the tax authorities recorded five cases of non-compliance with labor laws by entrepreneurs, including the unofficial employment of employees.
According to Iryna Stolyaryk, head of the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, paying taxes is not only about being transparent in the legal field, as the country is at war.
"Paying taxes in good faith is not only a good business reputation, but also ensuring the country's proper defense capability, which is extremely important at this time," she commented.
