Table of Contents
After the start of the full-scale invasion and the closure of the skies over Ukraine, Ukrainian airlines continue to operate flights abroad. Find out more about where Ukrainian airlines were most often seen during the war
In 2023, Ukrainian airline SkyUp carried an impressive 1.5 million passengers while operating flights abroad during difficult times for Ukrainian aviation. The company leased its aircraft with crew to other airlines, which indicates a high level of trust in its services.
SkyUp aircraft were most often seen in the countries with which they cooperated under ACMI contracts. Countries such as Tunisia, Malta, Abu Dhabi, and others were among the main destinations of the airline.
In 2023, SkyUp operated 10.5 thousand flights to 53 countries. The most frequent cooperation was with the following companies: Tunisair, FlyOne, HiSky SRL, HiSky Europe SRL, Wizz Air Malta, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, Corendon Dutch, Tailwind Airlines, and FlyEgypt, lowcostavia.com.ua reports.

Top countries most frequently visited by Ukrainian aircraft
Ukrainian airlines most often operated flights to 5 countries:
1. Moldova - 2000 flights;
2. Egypt - 1685 flights;
3. Turkey - 1219 flights;
4. Tunisia - 675 flights;
5. Romania - 556 flights.
Due to the closure of the skies over Ukraine, the airlines created a hub at Chisinau Airport. This was made possible by basing 5 passenger aircraft of Ukrainian airlines SkyUp and Windrose at this airport.
It is important to note that the aircraft of the former UIA, which went bankrupt, continues to operate from Chisinau, and continues to fly the flag of Ukraine on board, retaining its previous registration.
We remind you! Despite the cancellation of flights, Ukrainian airlines are taking measures to ensure their operations and retain their staff. Find out more about where Ukrainian airlines have established hubs and continue to operate.
