Temporary protection in the EU: is it possible to travel to Ukraine and under what conditions?

Ukrainians under temporary protection in the EU member states can freely travel to Ukraine and return back, said EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson in an interview with European Pravda.
"Everyone who has received EU protection should have the right to go home to visit their parents or family, or for any other purpose," the European Commissioner said. However, according to Johansson, those traveling to Ukraine for permanent residence or for a long period of time must deregister temporary protection with the competent authorities of the host country. Such deregistration will not deprive Ukrainians of the right to temporary protection: if necessary, migrants will always be able to return and register in the EU again.
The European Commissioner also confirmed cases when there were problems with the return of Ukrainians at the borders of certain European countries, but noted that the European Commission is working on this. The temporary protection will remain in effect until at least March 2024, Johansson said, but could be extended.
