As a result of recent shelling, about 40% of the entire energy infrastructure of Ukraine was damaged. TPPs, CHPs and HPPs in various regions were affected. Officials admit that there may be problems with heating if the shelling of energy facilities does not stop. In order to provide the citizens with places with heating, in various regions of Ukraine they began to prepare heating points.

Where to look for heating points?

Premises of schools and kindergartens, cultural institutions and administrative buildings can be equipped with heating points.

Ukrzaliznytsia is also involved in the creation of "warm locations" of locations. More than 30 train stations in the cities receiving the migrants will be equipped with everything necessary to keep warm and wait out the lack of heating in the houses. These premises will not be energy dependent, as they will be heated by generators provided by the Red Cross Society.

In particular, these are stations in Zaporizhia, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Kamianets-Podilskyi, Berdychev, Rivne, Kryvyi Rih, Kovel, Kolomyia, Mukachevo, Truskavets, Morshyn, Zhmeryntsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Chopa, Uzhhorod, Zhytomyr, Myronivtsi, Chernihiv, Trostyanka, Sumy, Kharkiv, Odesa, Cherkassy, Kropyvnytskyi, Berdychev, Ternopil, Lviv and at Tarasa Shevchenko and Darnytsia metro stations.

As reported by the Ministry of Reintegration, the list and addresses of the location of heating points will be published on the regional websites of the State Emergency Service in the coming days.

Is Kyiv ready for emergency situations?

According to the head of the Kyiv regional government, Oleksiy Kuleba, there are 750 stationary heating points in the Kyiv region in case of a heating failure. In Kyiv, they plan to equip 1,000 such points. Electric generators have already been purchased for them and a supply of water has been prepared.

The city authorities make every effort to ensure that Ukrainians can warm up, drink tea or charge their gadgets during a critical situation. The State Emergency Service is also developing the infrastructure of mobile heating points.

Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko announced that heat guns are being brought to the capital. These are portable heaters that create a powerful flow of hot air with the help of a heating element and a fan. They are used for heating large rooms and semi-open spaces.

How is Lviv preparing for winter?

The mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovy, appealed to the citizens to organize heating points with boilers, as well as to keep a constant supply of technical and drinking water. In the case of repeated mass shelling, you need to be prepared for the absence of light, water and heating.

Places to warm up in Kharkiv

In Kharkiv, points where it will be possible to warm up will be arranged in the underground, schools and basements. The heating points will be equipped with kitchens so that Kharkiv residents or school cooks can prepare hot meals. Thanks to the generator, the sockets will work, so it will be possible to charge mobile phones.

Since the city authorities do not rule out the possibility that there will be no electricity and heating for several days, it will be possible to stay overnight in the heating stations.

How will winter frosts be met in Odessa?

In Odessa, they plan to create stationary heating points near residential buildings. The city authorities have already identified 141 objects for arranging stationary heating points. These are 67 storage facilities, 68 educational institutions and mobile heating points.

In particular, the city green trust has already prepared 400 cubic meters of firewood.

In addition, the mayor of Odesa, Gennady Trukhanov, asked the managers of condominiums in the city to think about how they can prepare their houses for the difficult season: buy generators and gas stoves, arrange places for cooking on the premises, as well as stock up on water and food.

Heating points in the de-occupied territories

The State Emergency Service undertook to equip 400 stationary and 100 mobile heating points in the de-occupied regions.

It is important that the emergency service previously agreed with the European Commissioner to provide Ukrainian cities with a thousand mobile heating points equipped with generators. Such points will be sent to dangerous, front-line and recently liberated regions at the request of the regional military administration.

The list and addresses of the location of heating points in the de-occupied territories will be published on the regional websites of the State Emergency Service.

Looking at the government's request for active preparation for a severe winter, one should not panic.

As the months of the war have shown, Ukrainians are a strong nation, so with joint efforts we will be able to overcome all difficulties and, gathering our will into a fist, wait for victory. Because we all know that for every black stripe, there are hundreds of white ones.
