Financial assistance for Ukrainian families in Austria: how to get Familienbeihilfe
Families with children who are forced to stay on the territory of Austria can count on financial assistance from the state. Learn more about who can receive payments and what documents are required
Austria helps refugees from Ukraine in a variety of ways, including Familienbeihilfe payments for families and youth.
How to get financial assistance?
Financial support of Familienbeihilfe for children can be used by Ukrainians who found refuge from the war in Austria.
Please note that the right to payment expires together with the right to temporary residence in the country, but no later than March 2024.
Ukrainians must apply for assistance in the same way as other Austrian citizens. However, in the questionnaire, it is necessary to indicate the status of the displaced person by selecting the category "valid residence permit".
Fill out the appropriate application
Those wishing to apply for child benefit must fill out the Beih100 form or register through the FinanzOnline website. See a sample of the completed application here.
Send the application to the address of the Austrian Tax Service - PO Box 260, 1000 Vienna. It cannot be sent by e-mail.
Once your application has been processed, you will receive a payment decision.
Importantly! If you have previously received a refusal from the Austrian tax authorities, you can apply again.
Prepare the necessary documents
The following documents must be attached to the application:
• child's birth certificate;
• report card, certificate or other document to confirm the child's education.
