Canada continued the CUAET migration program for Ukrainians: what you need to know
Canada has announced the extension of the Canada-Ukraine Emergency Travel Authorization (CUAET) – a program to support refugees from Ukraine. Find out the new conditions.
The Government of Canada has extended the special migration program for Ukrainian citizens CUAET. Thus, Ukrainians who fled because of the war have the opportunity to apply for a Canadian visa for a few more months. We'll tell you the details below.

What do I need to know about CUAET program?
Ukrainians and their family members may qualify for a CUAET visa until July 15, 2023, at no cost to them. People who have already received a visa will be required to enter the country by March 31, 2024.
Important: Ukrainians who already hold the appropriate visa and are in Canada can extend their temporary status free of charge until March 31, 2024.
How do Ukrainians obtain a Canadian visa under the CUAET program?
The Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) migration program was launched by Canada after the full-scale invasion of russia, to simplify and expedite the procedures for Ukrainians who plan to travel to that country.
In order to obtain a visa, you must:
- submit an online visa application;
- provide biometric data.
Collection of biometric data is an important stage of applying for visa to Canada or CUAET permit. We talked about it in more detail earlier here.
As you know, Ukrainian refugees who have moved to Canada can count on one-time financial assistance there and access to emergency housing for up to 2 weeks after arrival, if necessary.

We also reported that the Canadian government will provide refugees from Ukraine with additional financial assistance. Ukrainians will be able to qualify for the amount of 2 thousand dollars.
