The State Border Guard Service reports that the Ukrainian border operates normally, an average of 246,000 people leave Ukraine every week, and about 302,000 citizens arrive in the country. Some Ukrainians go home temporarily: for holidays, to visit relatives, on vacation, to collect things or documents, while others return for permanent residence. Also, certain categories of foreigners show interest in Ukraine and plan their trip.

Rules of entry into Ukraine for citizens
Citizens of Ukraine may freely enter the territory of our country on the basis of a passport of a citizen of Ukraine for travel abroad or other diplomatic or service passports. If the validity period of your foreign passport is coming to an end, then according to the resolution of the CMU during the period of martial law, Ukrainians can extend their foreign passport for 5 years at diplomatic institutions (embassies/consulates) in the country of temporary stay. After extending the validity of the passport, you can safely go home with valid foreign passports.
Ukrainians who left on the basis of an internal passport/ID card/other document or without a document at all also have the right to return home. However, for this you need to contact the embassy/consulate of Ukraine abroad and get an identity card for returning to Ukraine.

Rules of entry to Ukraine for children
Ukrainian children can enter Ukraine on the basis of a foreign passport or a passport of a citizen of Ukraine for travel abroad of their legal representatives, in which information about the child is entered.
If the validity period of the document has expired, contact the diplomatic institution of Ukraine for its extension for another 5 years.
List of documents for returning home with a child born in the EU:
• an identity document;
• a child's birth certificate issued by a consular institution.

Rules of entry into Ukraine for foreigners
The borders of Ukraine are also open to foreigners, but they can enter Ukraine only for a specific purpose. List of documents for entry into Ukraine:
• A valid foreign passport, it must be valid for the entire period of stay in Ukraine. Citizens of Turkey and Georgia can enter Ukraine on the basis of an ID card.
• Absence of a decision of the authorized state body of Ukraine regarding the ban on entry to Ukraine for this citizen.
• Having an entry visa, if the country does not have a visa-free regime.
• Confirmation of the purpose of the planned stay - documents on family ties with a citizen of Ukraine, notarized invitation from citizens of Ukraine, invitation to work, study, etc.
• Availability of sufficient financial support for the entire period of the planned stay and for returning to the country of origin.
• Confirmation of the presence of vaccination against Covid-19 or a PCR test done a maximum of 72 hours before entry.
