Recently, an unexploded World War II bomb was discovered in a forest near Kyiv. This prompted experts to thoroughly examine the surrounding area with metal detectors to make sure there were no more such shells. However, an unexpected discovery awaited them - 8 buried British Hurricane aircraft. It is believed that today there are only 14 restored Hurricane fighters that are capable of flying.

At the same time, the planes are not only an important archaeological find, but also confirmation that the Soviet government in moscow lied to the United States and European countries. Together we are going to find out what kind of fighters they are and what role they played in World War II, as well as how the kremlin authorities tried to deceive the West.

British Hurricane fighter jet: what it is and how it appeared on the territory of Ukraine

The United Kingdom handed over Hurricane fighters to the Soviet Union in 1941, immediately after the attack by nazi Germany. The planes were part of a military aid package from the United States under the lend-lease system. A similar support scheme is in place now between the United States and Ukraine. Read more about how the United States is helping Ukraine win the war against russia here.

The Hurricane fighter jet played a crucial role in the defense of the United Kingdom during Germany's attempt to invade the country in 1940. It destroyed most of the enemy aircraft.

In addition, Hurricane fighters, according to Valerii Romanenko, head of the research department at the National Aviation Museum of Ukraine, are a symbol of British assistance during World War II. After all, it was the United Kingdom that was the first to begin massive transfers of aircraft to protect the territorial integrity of the USSR. In total, about 3,000 of these fighters were transferred.

Today, the UK is also one of Ukraine's main partners in terms of financial assistance and military equipment.

Why did the discovery of the Hurricane fighter jets expose the kremlin's lies?

The Lend-Lease program, under which the USSR received weapons and equipment, stipulated that the Soviet government had to return funds to the United States for all military equipment that remained undamaged after the end of hostilities.

At the same time, the planes found near Kyiv, although rusted, have no visible damage that could have been sustained in combat or during shelling, indicating that they were deliberately buried in the ground. Moreover, radios, machine guns, and other useful devices and metals were removed from the fighters, which proves the mercenary intentions of the Soviet authorities in moscow. Thus, the Soviet leadership decided not to pay for the surviving equipment. So, having stolen all the useful elements from the fighters, the authorities simply dumped the planes into a ravine and covered them with earth.

However, these actions of the kremlin will hardly surprise anyone after all the horrors committed by Soviet and modern russia. Read more about the false myths spread by russia about the history of Ukraine here.
