Let's consider the most popular city in Germany - Berlin. The information will be useful to you not only if you stay in the capital - even if you live in other federal states, you can always come here, for example, on weekends. 

Berlin, in fact, is not a very cheap city. However, there are plenty of quality and useful opportunities to relax with an affordable budget.

Excursions

On this resource you will find the most complete and quite convenient tour of Berlin in English or German. The Brandenburg Gate (S / U-Bahn Brandenburger Tor) usually starts at 11:00. Bauhaus Archive, Museum für Gestaltung (Knesebeckstraße 1). The exposition is dedicated to the history of the Bauhaus (1919 - 1933) - a school of design, architecture and art. It's very interesting in terms of enriching one's erudition and understanding the problems of modern construction. You can visit it from Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 18:00.

Bundeswehr Military History Museum (Am Flugplatz Gatow 33, Berlin Gatow Airport). Helicopters, planes, air defense systems, radars, etc. can be seen at the former British military airfield in terms of their development during the entire Cold War. It is in the open. And in several hangars the history of the German Luftwaffe unfolds, the air war of 1884 and much more. There are often special interesting exhibitions there. Opening hours: Tue-Sun, 10:00 - 18:00.

Berlin Porcelain Museum (Wegelystraße 1). Exhibition from the Royal Porcelain Factory - the oldest in Berlin and still operating. The traditions of Berlin porcelain date back to the era of Frederick the Great - 1763, and the exhibition will demonstrate its development and achievements. Closed on Sundays, on other days from 10:00 to 18:00.

Futurium (Alexanderufer 2). The extraordinary building of the exhibition complex, which, incidentally, boasts almost zero energy consumption due to technological solutions and special design, is divided into three main zones: the exhibition, the forum and the laboratory. The first is a look at different options for the future of humanity, the forum is a place for civil dialogue on issues of concern to modern society, and in the laboratory, regardless of age, you can test the technologies of the future and make your own inventions in creative workshops. Open on Fri-Mon (10:00 - 18:00), Thu (10:00 - 20:00), closed on Tuesdays.

ANOHA (Fromet-und-Moses-Mendelssohn-Platz 1). Museum for families with children from 3 to 10 years old, organized by the children's department of the Jewish Museum in Berlin. Here you can play to your heart's content, and in the center of the exposition - the story of Noah's Ark, a huge game model of which is built right here (28 meters!). The exposition, mostly, consists of 150 sculptures of animals created from recycled materials. All sculptures are tactile - you can climb them. Open: Tue-Fri (09:00 - 13:00), Sat-Sun (10:30 - 16:00).

Observation decks and parks

Viktoriapark (Kreuzberg district). Very beautiful park with a waterfall. The views of the city from here are simply enchanting!

Mensa der TU Berlin im Telefunken Haus (address: Ernst-Reuter-Platz 7). The building of the Technical University on the 20th floor offers a unique opportunity to have a delicious snack in the dining room and admire the gorgeous panorama of the city.

Great Tiergarten Park. Berlin's favorite park for locals and tourists. Even if you walk it all day long, you won't go around the whole of it!

Other attractions in Berlin

Embankment of Landverkanal. Whether you're in Neukeln or Kreuzberg, be sure to stroll along the promenade: it's very beautiful, with many restaurants and cafés. You can even rent a boat or kayak and ride the canal. By the way, if walking along the promenade to its end, you can walk up to Tiergarten Park.

Oberbaumbrücke bridge. It was built in 1732 to conveniently connect the Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg districts. In addition to the beautiful ancient architecture, it is worth paying attention to the performances of street musicians and other entertainment for tourists.

Street art in Berlin is a separate topic. Starting with the East Side Gallery - a piece of the Berlin Wall, which is usually included in all tour programs, and up to many unexpected and very charismatic works just on the buildings of the city.

We also advise you not to ignore the flea markets of the city - very atmospheric and interesting locations, even for those who are not fans of retro style and are not going to buy something there. There are three of them in Berlin: in the Mauerpark (Bernauer Straße 63, Prenzlauer Berg) - performances by musicians, street food and a lot of entertainment, open on Sundays, 8:00 - 18:00; on the Street of June 17 (Strasse des 17 Juni) - the oldest, but also the most expensive, Sat-Sun, 10:00 - 17:00; and Boxhagener Platz (Boxhagener Platz 1, Friedrichshai) - the most popular among Berliners, open every Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00.

Even fans of silent movies will be delighted with the weekly - on Saturdays, midnight - screenings at the Babylon cinema.
