The Czech Republic has established strict rules of temporary protection for Ukrainians who may lose their status and benefits if they leave the country for a long time, in particular for the period of study or other business.

According to proukrainu.blesk.cz, the terms and conditions for Ukrainian refugees to leave the Czech Republic are an essential part of the new regulation.

We will tell you how many days refugees from Ukraine can leave the Czech Republic and what impact their prolonged stay outside the country has.

Temporary protection for Ukrainians in the Czech Republic: for how long can you leave the country

It is noted that Ukrainian students who have temporary protection status in the Czech Republic risk losing this status if they choose to study in another country as part of an exchange program.

The Czech Ministry of the Interior reported that this decision is due to the need to obtain a residence permit in another country for more than 90 days. This, in turn, may lead to the revocation of temporary protection in the Czech Republic.  However, short-term departures of up to 90 days leave the status of temporary protection unchanged.

It is emphasized that in other countries, the duration of a study or work permit usually exceeds 90 days, and it is recommended to consult with the embassy of the chosen country before leaving.

The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic emphasizes that temporary protection will not be canceled in case of prolonged absence from the country, but absence for more than 10 working days may affect the provision of social assistance, accommodation, educational services and health insurance.

In turn, the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes that Ukrainians with temporary protection can travel to Ukraine, within the Schengen area, as well as to countries outside the Schengen area. However, it is important to keep in mind that having a protection status does not guarantee automatic entry to other countries.
