The Espresso Index, an indicator that reflects changes in the price of a cup of coffee, shows a significant increase in 2023. The study determined how the cost of the basic drink changed in different regions of Ukraine. The price of a cup of espresso in Ukraine has doubled as of the end of 2023. The average cost per drink is 30 hryvnias. This is reported by the company Opendatabot, referring to the study of the Espresso Index by Poster POS.
In recent years, the price of coffee in Ukraine has almost doubled: from 15 UAH in 2017 to 30 UAH at the end of 2023.
In particular, the biggest price jump occurred in the first year of the full-scale invasion: from UAH 20 to UAH 28. Thus, in 2022, the average price of espresso in Ukraine increased from UAH 20 to UAH 28.
Where are the highest prices in Ukraine?
The most expensive cup of coffee is in Odesa (UAH 36), Donetsk (UAH 35), and Kharkiv (UAH 32). While in Khmelnytskyi (UAH 21), Sumy (UAH 23), Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia (UAH 24 each), espresso is the least expensive in Ukraine.
The price for a cup of espresso in Kyiv is 30 UAH, which is the average for the whole country.
