As long as the skies over Ukraine remain closed to civilian aircraft, the only way to get to the country is by land: public transportation (buses/trains) or by car. At some checkpoints with Ukraine, it is also possible to cross the border on foot, but at most of them this can only be done to leave Ukraine and only for evacuation purposes.

In general, it is currently possible to enter Ukraine through the checkpoints located on the borders with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova. The checkpoints on the border with russia and Belarus are closed, but Ukrainians trying to return to Ukraine can cross the border. Read more about where and how to do it here.

Please note! When planning a trip to Ukraine, first of all, you need to take care of the appropriate insurance policy, because any foreign insurance automatically terminates after crossing the Ukrainian border. In this case, we recommend that you take out insurance specifically covering military risks, which will cover not only standard medical care/treatment/diagnosis, etc. but also accidents and injuries caused by passive or direct military risks.

You can take out such insurance on the Visit Ukraine websiteFollow the link and choose an insurance policy with the appropriate coverage and indemnity amount for the required period.

We remind you! The imposed martial law on the territory of Ukraine does not prohibit the entry of foreigners, but it does impose some other restrictions. Read what you need for a safe trip and what nuances you should take into account when planning a trip to Ukraine during the war in our previous article.
