State payments for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukraine have been extended until March 1. In particular, the assistance system will change to cover only certain categories of IDPs. This was announced by Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych during a telethon.

"Together with the government, we have decided to extend the existing payment conditions for absolutely everyone for another month, until March 1. That is, nothing changes, the new criteria are automatically transferred from February 1 to March 1. We have already reached an agreement within the government and found the appropriate resource, because this is a considerable resource: one month of extension of such benefits costs us more than UAH 6 billion," the minister said.

What are the amounts of payments to IDPs in 2024?

Financial support for citizens residing in Ukraine who are internally displaced is as follows:

• UAH 3 thousand for persons with disabilities and children;

• UAH 2 thousand for other persons.

The funds can be received on the 15th and 28th of each month.

To whom have the state payments been extended?

After March 1, payments will be extended automatically for pensioners from the IDP category whose pension is less than UAH 9444. At the same time, people with high incomes will lose their eligibility.

The assistance will also be automatically extended for disabled people of the first and second groups, as well as for orphans.

"At the same time, we have a slightly different approach to helping other families, and it is important to apply (for benefits - ed.), and those families who have children and, for example, one of the parents takes care of children under 14 years old because schools or kindergartens are online can apply. It is clear that these are our territories where hostilities are possible," Zholnovych said.

Payments have also been extended for families who were employed last year and have low incomes - less than UAH 9,400 per family member.

Payments will also continue for people living in conditionally safe areas, but whose children under 6 do not attend kindergartens due to a lack of places.

The Minister emphasized a flexible approach to each category and consideration of all circumstances, but stressed the importance of employment for those who can and should work.
