In Ukraine, due to mass power outages, people began to stock up on alternative sources of energy. In particular, generators went into operation, which became a real salvation for citizens. However, against the background of high demand, the country has a shortage of these systems. So Ukrainians have to look for generators abroad. In connection with this, the question often arises: how to start generators from abroad and not pay duty?

When and how much do you need to pay duty for importing a generator?

So, according to the information of the customs service, if the cost of this system is from 500 to 10 thousand euros, then it is necessary to declare it in writing at the customs and pay the tax:

• import duty at the rate of 10% of the invoice value. That is, if the generator cost 700 euros, then the duty is calculated from 200 euros (that is, from the amount remaining after subtracting 500 euros) and it will be 20 euros;

• value-added tax at the rate of 20% of the invoice value, taking into account the amount of import duty. If the generator costs 700 euros, then the VAT will be calculated from 220 euros and will amount to 44 euros.

What is invoice price?

This is the value of goods from receipts or sales receipts, tags or other retail documents.

When do you not need to pay duty for importing a generator?

Yes, generators, the cost of which is less than 500 euros and the weight of which is less than 50 kg, and which are transported by car, rail or sea are not taxed. It is also not necessary to fill out a declaration for the transportation of such generators.

What if I send the generator by mail?

According to customs officials, the total cost of sending by express mail or unaccompanied baggage should be up to 150 euros.
