The British Foreign Office has officially changed its travel advisory for Ukraine. Previously, the Foreign Office did not recommend entering Ukraine under any circumstances, but on January 22, the department allowed travel to several western regions of Ukraine if necessary and changed the danger level from red to yellow.

Recommendations for visiting Ukraine for the British

According to the information published on the website of the British Foreign Office, if necessary, the British can visit four western regions of Ukraine, namely:

– Zakarpattia region;

– Ivano-Frankivsk region;

– Chernivtsi region;

– Ternopil region.

At the same time, the agency urges people to refrain from traveling to other regions of Ukraine.

How to enter Ukraine during the war: rules and useful information

Today, you can enter Ukraine only by land, as the airspace over the country remains closed. The most convenient option is to fly to one of the airports closest to Ukraine and then continue your journey by train or bus. A list of options for getting to Ukraine is available here.

To enter Ukraine, British citizens need:

– a passport (valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry into Ukraine);

– proof of the purpose of the trip (travel voucher, event tickets, invitation, hotel reservation, etc;)

– proof of financial support ($45 per person for each day of stay in Ukraine);

– health insurance policy;

– visa (if you plan to stay in Ukraine for more than 90 days, or for the purpose of work or study; read here how to get a visa to Ukraine).

Please note! For a safe stay in Ukraine, foreign citizens must strictly adhere to the following rules:

1. Under no circumstances should you ignore the air raid alert and, in the event of a threat, immediately go to the nearest shelter. In order to respond to threats in a timely manner, install the Air Alert mobile application (from the App Store or Google Play) and select the desired region to receive alerts directly to your phone in case of danger.

2. Observe curfews and always have your ID with you. You can find restrictions in different regions of the country here.

3. Do not take photos or videos of military personnel, military equipment, checkpoints, or other protective structures.

Important! We recommend that you take out not just health insurance, but an insurance policy covering military risks, which will cover standard medical care/treatment/diagnosis, etc. as well as injuries and accidents related to passive and direct military risks. Such insurance will allow you to be as protected as possible from any unforeseen situations. You can take out an insurance policy covering military risks on our portal by following this link
