A foreigner can obtain a residence permit in Ukraine by obtaining a residence permit on the basis of employment. In this way, a foreigner can stay in the country for a period exceeding the validity of a visa or visa-free regime.
However, this residence permit can be issued only after obtaining a work permit in Ukraine.
We have described in detail how a foreigner can find a job in Ukraine in this article.
How to get a residence permit in Ukraine on the basis of employment?
This type of residence permit in Ukraine is issued only if you have a D-type visa 04. As a reminder, D-type visas are issued for the purpose of further processing by the competent authorities of Ukraine of documents entitling you to stay or reside in Ukraine for a period exceeding 90 days.
To obtain a D visa, a foreign employee must personally apply for this visa at the Ukrainian embassy at the place of his/her citizenship or permanent residence. The embassy considers the visa application and makes a decision on granting or refusing a visa on an urgent basis within 5 days, and on a regular basis within 10 days from the date of receipt of the documents.
In this case, documents issued by the competent authorities of a foreign country must be legalized and translated into Ukrainian.
The documents required to apply for a type D visa are as follows:
— passport document;
— a completed and signed visa application form;
— color photo;
— a valid health insurance policy;
— proof of sufficient financial security for the period of stay;
— tickets, hotel reservation/confirmation of the address of stay in Ukraine;
